Did you know that I had chronic IBS for over 10 years! Seriously, it was so bad that I couldn’t even take a trip to the supermarket without planning a trip to the toilet! Of course, I went to doctors, gut specialists and even alternative medicine practitioners to figure it out but I was always told the same thing: There is no cure and you’ll need to find a way to live with it. Why I Built My Coaching BusinessYou can probably tell by the fact that I’m telling you this, I did find a solution to the problem. Not only did I figure out how to manage the problem, with a very strict carnivore diet, but I also learned how to manipulate, ferment and repopulate specific strains of gut bacteria to actually fix the problem. I built my business to help others do the same and so far, we have a 95% success rate. We also help people with other autoimmune and metabolic conditions like fatigue, fibromyalgia, rosacea, arthritis, Lupus, thyroid issues and even depression! Here’s how I grew that business to $10,000 per month! 1. Choosing a NicheFor me, this was super easy. I already know who I wanted to help and I knew a LOT about the topic I wanted to teach people. The carnivore diet! For you, I’d recommend a topic that’s very specific to a topic, problem or group of people. Some ideas include:
Notice how all of these ideas are very specific. You’ll see why later. 2. Creating Your Online Fitness Course ContentThere are a couple of ways to create content for your course. The first is to write blog posts on the most pertinent topics. Write about solutions to the biggest problems. Then, when you have a dozen or so blogs, organise them into a curriculum. You may need to write a few more content pieces to fill in any areas of essential learning and upgrade each content piece so it’s more succinct with the next. Here's an example of one of those blogs that later became a lesson. The great thing about this option is that you can start gaining traffic straight away. The second way to get the course content set up is to create the curriculum from the start and then write based on the curriculum outline. This is far more organized but it means you have nothing to share with people until you’re done with most, if not all of the content. Here's how that might look when all the online fitness course content is organized. Whichever option you choose, the content needs to be super specific to your niche because there’s likely other content out there that can help them, but isn’t anywhere near as specific to them. This is your USP (Unique Selling Proposition). 3. Marketing Your Online Fitness Course Marketing is a huge topic and we actually have courses on how to market your personal training business, which would work for your online fitness course, in our marketing courses for personal trainers. My advice when it comes to marketing is to market the way you enjoy marketing. It’s important to enjoy it because you’ll need to do it, even when you don’t feel like it. Then, later, when you’re making some money, you can pay other people to market in different ways for you. My area of expertise is SEO, so I search engine optimised all the course content for keywords I knew my audience were searching for on Google. Keywords like "Carnivore Diet Results". And "Carnivore Diet Ice Cream" Then used my network to build links to those courses to tank those pages on page one of Google. Other ways you can market for free or cheap include email marketing, Facebook groups and social media networking. If you have the budget, consider ads and other paid promotions. 4. Build a Product or Service You’d think this would be step one or two. And it can be if you so choose to. For me, my priority was getting the information out as soon as possible so that I could rank on Google sooner, build an email list and grow my audience. Plus, my other businesses were taking care of me financially so I could take my time. I found my initial product by asking my group members what they wanted most. Instead of asking and making people think, I took 5 or 6 of the things I knew they wanted and had them take a poll. This is way less thinking for the user and much easier for them to do, one click, so you tend to get more responses. From there, I built out the products they asked for using mix of my own time and expertise and Fiverr gigs. Here's a cover of a 30 Day Carnivore Challenge I had set up: This product has since changed to an app which contains all of the recipes and meal plans, a macro calculator and other features specific to the carnivore diet. It's important to not, I didn't invest in an app until I was already at around $8k per month. 5. Do Good Work Probably the simplest but most overlooked step of running any fitness business is to just do good work. Help as many people solve their problems as you can. Sometimes that means helping a person for free because they emailed you out of desperation, sometimes it means someone else signing up for your paid product. Most of my marketing time for my online coaching business is spent in my email or in other Facebook groups trying to offer solutions to people without asking for anything in return. Remember, just because you don’t see money coming in from your of kindness, it doesn’t mean your business isn’t growing. The whole point of having a business is to help others so if you’re going that, even for free, you’re growing. Did you find this information useful?
