The number of fitness mentors right now is absolutely staggering. I know I’m “in” the industry and a part of the conversation but several friend requests and more than a dozen Facebook group member declines per week is just getting ridiculous. Those numbers don’t even include the fitness industry mentors I already have on my friends list or the ones who are smart enough to fly under the radar in our iPT support group. The problem is so rampant that it’s even become a literal joke. So in this article we’ll be digging a little deeper and teaching YOU how to become a fake fitness mentor so that you understand how they market and sell their services. Now, if you end up in a fake fitness mentor funnel, you’ll stand a chance of seeing through the BS. Let’s Begin. Here’s how to become a fake fitness mentor. Step 1: Make a PromiseThe first step to becoming a fitness mentor is to create a promise, otherwise known as the irresistible offer. The best offers are always connected to health, wealth or relationships because they’re emotional topics. Seeing as you’re trying to get trainers to spend money on their business, the offer will likely be connected to wealth. Earn 6 figures, become financially free, double your income, that kind of thing. You’ve seen it all before, I'm sure. This particular offer preys on the fact that personal trainers aren’t making as much as they’d like to be making and you promises to help rectify that in the shortest time possible, probably with little to no effort. Step 2: Create the Free Product Next, you need a free product to give away to your audience. This free product is almost always a webinar, a free strategy call, offer of free services or even a full blown course. However, you don’t actually need to know anything about what it is you’re selling. No, no. That takes too much time and let’s be honest, if you really knew how to make six figures you wouldn’t be on Facebook trying to sell the 6 figure dream. All you have to do is go to a PLR site, grab a lengthy PDF for a few dollars and then turn it into a webinar, course or even your own book. Seriously, they're all right there. Done for you with Powerpoints, worksheets and checklists for your unsuspecting audience. The goal of your free content isn’t to educate otherwise they'd actually learn something and you wouldn't be able to upsell your products. The goal is to ensure it leaves the trainer asking more questions than when they started while at the same time giving them constant exposure to you to increase familiarity. This is why your webinar need to be 3 hours long. Your free content will highlight all of the questions your audience didn’t know they should be asking so that you can sell them the answers later. Step 3: Marketing Your Free Product Marketing a free product to a desperate audience is pretty simple. With some pretty general targeting on Facebook and YouTube, you’ll be able to create ads that pull in ideal personal trainers, the gullible ones looking for shortcuts. Your ads will offer the 6 figure dream and all the trainer has to do is the link to get the free training. You’ll tell them your back story about how you hated your life, struggled to make money and was in the same position they’re in now. But then you discovered that money is abundant. It’s everywhere and easy to access. All they need are the secrets from your free content. This gets them set up for the hard sell which we’ll talk about later. Finally, make sure they know "success is hard to obtain" and "it’s their responsibility to put in the work" so that when they fail with your free or paid products, they blame themselves and not you. That’s right, you’re going to tell them it’s easy and yet incredibly difficult at the same time and they won’t even bat an eye. Step 4: The Hard Sell With hundreds of hungry, doe-eyed personal trainers in your funnel having consumed your content but learned nothing, they’ll be looking for more. They’ll want to know what they’re doing wrong, what they’re missing and why what you’ve taught them isn’t working. After all, it’s their fault, not yours, right? It’s at this point that you hard sell them in to your low end product or service. This product can be super low value and seem incredibly easy get started and succeed with. It will promise to answer all of the questions your free content raised while making it clear the trainer doesn’t need to be an expert because you’ve broken down the steps in to copy/paste systems that they can deploy in their own business TODAY! Finally, create some scarcity by using timers on the sales page that threaten to double the price or lose the bonuses when then timer runs out. The trainers that sign up to this are the most gullible and they’ll be ideal for the next step. The upsell. Step 5: The Upsell The upsell is where you start making the big bucks. By now you’ll have heaps of frustrated personal trainers in your funnel that are desperate for the secrets you clearly know because of the Instagram pictures of you standing next to a rented Ferrari is undeniable proof of your success. It’s time to sell your mastermind program, live event or access to you personally. Whatever it takes to make the personal trainer feel special. But don’t worry, you still don’t need to know how to actually build a profitable business. All you need to do is regurgitate all of the content you previously gave away but in a different way. The personal trainer won’t even notice. At this point they’re so sold on the idea that your solution is the solution for them, they’ll be taking out new credit cards just to pay for your services. They’ll even still blame themselves when it doesn’t work for them because you introduced them to that one guy the program actually worked for. Just don’t tell them he was already on the path to success, with or without you. Play your cards right and they’ll even reject sounds advice from their friends and family because they’re non believers. That's It! ... I know what you’re thinking… Surely it can't be that easy? Can’t trainers get less expensive courses with better material? Yes, they can but while these courses might work, they just don’t sell the dream in the same way you sell yours. It’s all about those 6 figures.
